Planning Instructions 2020-2021

 

What action(s) you take in order to prepare online and blended learning?

 

Online learning has become the most popular education process today. The impact of COVID -19 has raised a lot of challenges for our education system. Online learning is changing the pedagogical way of how we teach and learn. This change requires us to think and improve how to make teaching and to determine a more interactive and collaborative approach.

Time effective:

An essential thing for blended learning for me is to make learning more effective and less time consuming by constructing something to explain the ideas by producing a slideshow or explaining the concepts you learned in class. I will give students something specific to respond to in each task via the discussions and make posting and responding mandatory.

Respect diverse ways of learning

I will create assignments that offer students options. It gives students choices in their learning experience and gives them options as to what format to submit assignments or projects will increase satisfaction and performance.

Communicate high and clear expectations 

I will include course goals and performance objectives. Also, model assignment submissions that can serve as examples for students to follow.

Feedback

Give prompt feedback so the students can see results of their tests and view solutions to graded assignments immediately after submission. I also should promptly respond to student questions.

Encourage

Also, another area is incorporating peer reviews, project sharing, and moderate discussions.

Previous experiences

I will focus on the earlier skills that would best generate learning from the learner’s point of view, rather than just publishing and assessing the information I think the students need to know

 

Considering your previous experience with online learning, what are your instructional strengths & areas for growth? 

Strength:

During these difficult times, social and emotional health will also continue to be a priority for my class. Our Health unit during September (including Mental Health, Decision Making, Stress, Sleep, and Active will drive the students and me to overcome and better understand the importance of Mental Health and Physical Activity.

Growth:

How to make the students time more productive by giving explicit instruction, finding the class materials, assignments by unifying the schedule and course requirements, and information within my department colleagues.

Using the 5Cs of online learning, what goals might you set for yourself in anticipation of future online instruction?

During E-learning, an important goal for me is to clarify and interact better not only with EAL students but also to ensure that they understand the information being taught online and the other students to make sure to use clear and straightforward clarification.

 

How might you achieve these goals? Who might reach out for support?

An important goal is to continue to strive for consistency amongst the members of my department for timeliness and clarity of DX postings, prompt and individual feedback

Good communication with my Partner Instructor.

 

Magic wand

To create a tranquil learning environment with me teaching online. Also, for those students not in Beijing, I would like them to be engaged and excited.

    Bujar,

    You have identified ad number of strategies/programmes to use to encourage students to collaborate with each other. I think this will help them connect with each other quickly and experience a safe environment in which to discuss the health unit topics. You are right about striving for consistency amongst the department for PEH 9. It won’t be easy but you do have a great team to do this work with.
