Preparing for Online Learning in 2020-21

What action(s) might you take in order to prepare for online and blended learning?

For myself, as my role is significantly different to that of the classroom teacher, I will have relatively few direct interactions with students. Therefore, I will need to practice certain skills such as effective, engaging screencasting, to ensure that my students have an enjoyable learning experience. There are many resources at the school with whom I can collaborate in order to make this happen.

Considering your previous experience with online learning, what are your instructional strengths & areas for growth?

For myself, I view my instructional strengths as lying in Care (setting routines, establishing a safe and interactive environment), Captivate (creating engaging learning experiences and inquiries), Collaborate and Clarify (formative feedback, small group instruction). I will continue to develop my skills in online Classroom management as I work with students in alignment with the teaching and learning expectations/guidelines.

Using the 5Cs of online learning, what goals might you set for yourself in anticipation of future online instruction?

Specifically, I would continue to develop my online Classroom management skills by using the guidelines as a base and seeking feedback from my fellow teachers. There is a wealth of experience in the ISB teaching community and I feel fortunate for the opportunity to collaborate with and be mentored by them.
