The beginning of the 2019 academic year has been tiring but it has been great to get back to school and to get to know a new class.
Reflecting on my practice I feel my strengths lie in establishing a caring environment for children, where they feel valued and heard. Built on this trust, I feel the discussions and conferring that happens in my class is encouraged to be respectful and the children are given opportunities to share their thoughts, whether they agree or disagree with others. I don’t often ask for explicit feedback from my children about activities, but use my observations of their discussions and body language to ascertain what they may feel.
My areas for growth fall mainly in captivate, clarifying and consolidating. I had already considered a goal in the area of captivate, more specifically looking at improving my differentiation.
