I am currently in Beijing and very excited to see my students and teach them on campus after so many months of E-Learning. However with the currently situation, I am prepared to justify my lesson style to adapt to the Partnered Instruction Model.
I am in the Dual Language program which will add another layer of complexity to the situation. I am glad that my TAs are with me and only my English Homeroom partner is away. Establishing an effective working agreement and collaborate with my English Homeroom Partner (overseas) and her Instructional partner (onsite) would be my priority. Additional, I am currently the only homeroom teacher that is on-campus in Grade 2, I would also need to facilitate the other IPs and TAs when needed.
I am quite familiar with the available technology tools for e-Learning. My start of the year goal would be sourcing for more tools that will make learning more interesting and balance between on campus and online to meet students need no matter where they are.
My 5C focus was Captivate last year. This year I would like to focus on CARE especially during the start of the school year period. It is challenging to meet a group of new students with limited interaction to build class spirit, routine and connections. I would like to consider student’s emotional and social wellbeing in all my lessons planned to make sure students enjoy coming back to school. Since I am on campus, I am also planning to have 1 on 1 sessions with the off-campus students at the start of the year to build bonds with them. I believe teaching & learning can be much more effective when students and teachers have a good relationship.
